World Championship 2006!!
It’s World Championship time! On July 7 & 8, 2006, more than 1300 competitors from around the world will be gathering in Anaheim, California to show their stuff at this bi annual event.
Whether you win or lose, everyone always goes home happy. And don’t forget about the many events happening around the tournament.
The Headquarters hotel is always jumping. Parties, games, get togethers. Hospitality suite is always fun; food, friends, Masters, fun! The pool is always crowded with faces. And if you know the right people, you could be partying til the break of dawn (though, for the younger ones, there’s always families that are just looking for “play dates”).
And this year, our after party will be held at the Dave & Buster’s in Orange, California, only a short trip from the Headquarters hotel in Anaheim. Tickets went fast, and we expect to see a lot of friendly faces.
Many people come a few days before the tournament starts and stay a few days after, to sneak in a family vacation around the tournament, which works great in California (I know I stay a few extra days). The headquarters hotel is only MINUTES away from Wet & Wild as well as Knotts Berry Farm. And don’t forget Disney Land!
But my favorite part (yes, I’m corny) is watching people of all different cultures show off their originality. I love the way the folks from Great Britain all come in together, wearing the same track suit, and go places together in unity. The students from Puerto Rico are always entertaining with their music and instruments. Kids are running around trying to meet as many other people as they can before their ring starts.
So, what’s my point? My point is I would like to showcase stories from different people from different regions. If you have a story to tell about your trip to this years World Championship, send it to me! Even if you just want to tell everyone how much fun you had competing! Send me some pictures of you in your uniform with your trophies, your friends, your instructor .. or if you’re lucky, with Grandmaster Shin.
Anyone who sends me a story will have a chance to see their article up here on the website. You can send your submissions to: WTSDA, Attn: Kidzone, 709 Oregon Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19148 or you can email me your stuff to tangsoodochica@yahoo.com
Looking forward to seeing everyone in California, and I hope I have lots of articles waiting for me when I get back. Tang Soo!
